Bodom After Midnight was a Finnish melodic death metal supergroup from Espoo, Finland, formed in 2020 by guitarists Alexi Laiho and Daniel Freyberg of Children of Bodom after the dissolution of the band. The band is named after the second track from the album Follow the Reaper, because of legal issues with former bandmates. Drummer Waltteri Väyrynen (Paradise Lost) and bassist Mitja Toivonen (ex-Santa Cruz) completed the initial line up, along with the touring keyboardist Lauri Salomaa. Their first three festival shows were announced for the summer of 2020; it was later confirmed that they were all cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The band made a live debut on October 23, 2020 in Seinäjoki, Finland.
The band effectively ended in December 2020 with Alexi Laiho's death, even though the information about his passing wasn't known until early January 2021. It was speculated for the time whether the band would continue or not. However, Daniel Freyberg put those speculations to rest in a Loudwire interview in which he confirmed that the band will not be continuing without Alexi as they don't feel comfortable using the Bodom name without his permission.
