Dead Weight is the second track on Jack Stauber's fourth album HiLo, released on April 14th, 2018. Prior to its official release, Dead Weight was originally released as a Patreon exclusive single on March 30th, 2018. The song's music video was later uploaded on April 5th, 2018, over a week before its official release. This song seems to be about society's expectations, and Jack has troubles living up to them. Jack Stauber is a hypnagogic-pop musician and artist who lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is a college graduate, majoring in junior marketing and minoring in studio arts. He also animates and makes surreal and comedic shorts on his YouTube channel. His YouTube channel gained popularity very fast in March 2018. His videos feature catchy and short songs with accompanying oddball animations. They also feature a VHS aesthetic as the videos are manipulated on a VCR before being uploaded. As of 2018, Jack has released 4 albums: Finite Form (2013), Viator, (2015), Pop Food (2017) and HiLo (2018).
