Anjulie

Anjulie (born Anjulie Persaud; 1983) is a singer and songwriter from Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Anjulie is an intriguing, authentic new voice on the pop landscape, with the melodic gifts, vocal prowess and sophistication that announce her as a true original. Obsessed with music as a child, Anjulie has been singing and writing songs since she was a teen, and the years she spent honing her craft are readily apparent on her self-titled debut album for Hear Music. Co-written with her producer and collaborator Jon Levine (of Canadian R and B hit makers the Philosopher Kings), the album finds Anjulie setting intensely personal stories about her life, loves, obsessions, and heartbreaks to a dazzling genre-blending mix of pop, hip-hop, rock, and world rhythms she heard as a child growing up. Much like her contemporaries Nelly Furtado, Corrine Bailey Rae and Lily Allen, Anjulie is ready to carve out her own essential place in popular music. Anjulie is a self-described music addict and has been writing and composing her own music since she was a teenager. She wrote the song "Say Goodbye to Jr. High", contributed background vocals and played percussion for the CD "Unfabulous and More" (2005). Her début album "Anjulie" was co-written and produced by Jon Levine of The Philosopher Kings. Read more on Last.fm.
