Aram Tigran

Aram Mlikayan Dikran born in 1934 in the Syrian city of Qamishli. After finishing grade nine, he concentrated his efforts on learning music and playing oud (cümbüş) and by the age of twenty years old, he was singing in three languages: Kurdish, Arabic and Armenian. Founded in the city of Qamishli first band Kurdish Armenians. He is considered among the best of contemporary Kurdish singers and musicians. He recorded 230 songs in Kurdish, 150 in Arabic, 10 in Syriac, 8 in Greek and 7 in Zazaki. On the evening of 08/06/2009 the artist's heart stopped beating Aram Dikran in one of the hospitals in the Greek capital Athens. Tigran wanted to be buried in Diyarbakir, the largest city in southeastern Turkey. However, permission was refused and he was buried in Brussels. Read more on Last.fm.
