Breaking the Silence

Artist name "The Letter Black" Breaking the Silence is a Christian Hard Rock Band formed in Uniontown, Pennsylvania in 2006. The lineup consisted of lead singer Sarah Anthony, her husband, lead guitarist and backing vocalist, Mark Anthony, bassist Matt Beal and drummer Mat Seagle. They entered the recording studio indefinitely with producer Travis Wyrick (P.O.D, Pillar, Disciple) which consequently lead to their only album as Breaking The Silence, Stand, released in 2007. This was followed by an impressive set of 150 shows on tour a year. Their big break came when Tooth & Nail Records called to ask if they could replace a split band on the semi-successful Five Four Five Tour with fellow artists Dizmas and Children 18:3. They accepted although it was only at two weeks notice. This was followed by the hugely successful tour with Skillet, the Awake and Alive Tour in 2009. Shortly after the tour, they put pen to paper on a contract with Tooth & Nail. After signing, they realised that there was another popular band with the same name and so they changed to The Letter Black, a suggestion that stemmed from a joke between legendary Helmet front man Page Hamilton and manager Danny Hill. Outside of having a curious ring to it, the new moniker better encapsulates the band’s aggressive instrumental onslaught and literate lyrical disposition. Since signing to Tooth & Nail, they have released two albums as The Letter Black, Breaking the Silence in 2009 and their current album, Hanging on by a Thread in 2010. Read more on Last.fm.
