Cinq G

Cinq G Genre: P-Funk + Dancehall + Reggae = P-Ragga! Members: Duze Pe (MC); Mista Pita (kbds, vox, MC); Radikal Irie (git, ideas) + Live Rhythm Section: Erudeigrek (bas), Hub-X (drms) Info: Cinq G (formerly known as Piec Gie or 5G) is an "imageous" Polish band, which sees itself as a "Panamian Boysband" playing "The Worst Ragga in the City". It's the first Polish dancehall group ever that released an album and probably the most important Polish representative of that genre (however, they've gone further, creating their own genre called P-Ragga by mixing Carraibean rhythms with the sounds of p-funk). This supergroup consists of three "root" members: Polish freestyle legend Duze Pe (MC), multi-instrumentalist-slash-world-famous-young-jazz-pianist Piotr Zabrodzki aka Mista Pita (MC, vocals, kbds, production) and Tomasz Konca aka Radikal Irie (leadership, ideas, guitar, production / executive production) - one of the most influential dancehall promotors in Poland and a guitarist of legendary Polish reggae / funk group Transmisja. During live gigs, the trio mentioned above is supported by a rhythm section consisting of two highly talented (and skilled) musicians: Filip Jurczyszyn aka Erudeigrek (bass) and Hubert Zemler aka Hub-X (drums). So, what is so special about Cinq G? Well... The exceptional "boysbandous" self-mockery image of the band (you have to see it to believe it), originally delivered and skillfully crafted rhymes of Duze Pe, musical genius of Mista Pita and lots of positive, "montypythonesque" energy and ideas inspired by Radikal Irie. It's well more than enough. The band have released its debut album "P.I.E.C.G.I.E. Panama" in 2004 at Radikal Irie's independent label Funkydub Productions. In 2006 it was followed by the sophomore LP "Fogga Ragga", which consisted P-Ragga style covers of ten songs by famous Polish singer of 30's-till-80's, Mieczyslaw Fogg. The group was honoured with "Golden Retro Leaf 2006" for that release. In 2007 Cinq G released its third album titled "JUMA" ("juma" is a slang equivalent of "theft"), which is also available in an exclusive 2 CD version including "Live" CD recorded during one of the concerts of the group.
