Fresh Coast

The term "Fresh Coast" refers to a large family of freestyle/battle rappers who generally live in or between Los Angeles and The San Francisco Bay Area, although the term can also be applied to rappers as far up the west coast as Portland, Oregon. Several collectives and emcees refer to themselves as a part of the "Fresh Coast" movement, including Dumbfoundead and Nocando's Swim Team crew, Los Angeles' Project Blowed, Oakland's Rollin' Rockers, Richmond's IMGMI crew, and Scribble Jam/World Rap Championship winners Illmaculate and The Saurus. All emcees plus more claim affiliation. The collective released a soundtrack compilation album with their documentary "Fresh Coast" which is based on the movement and is now available in full on youtube. They have also released two compilation albums available through iTunes which are heavily promoted through west coast "Grindtime" rap battles, also available for viewing on youtube.
