Growing Panes

Underground Ottawa-based musicians Growing Panes have been rocking the alternative scene in their hometown since highschool when they were known as Resin, but have recently come back together in 2007 to create a new full-length album, Disjunction Junction, recorded live at The 241, a hidden underground venue in a residential basement with no rehearsal, in one take. As absolutely no preperation was made, the sound can definitely be described as experimental, and will only be refined in the future. The instruments used include guitars, a toy voice changer, a Krypton Stix brand appliance, and a concertina. Their sound is influenced by bands such as Nirvana, Sonic Youth, AIDS Wolf, Athletic Automaton, Boris, and The Contortions. Growing Panes is all about free improvisation and exploring the studio space. The members of Growing Panes have also recorded with Jason of Hawk Man as Jason, Matt, and Joel. Band member Joel D'amour has an extensive catalog of music of his own. Band member Matthew Pacey is also a part of Electric Autopsy, and has been a member of the short-lived The Terminators and Nihilistic Death Hell Satans. He also has several home recordings under his screen-name forkimified. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
