Ichiko Aoba

青葉市子 (Ichiko Aoba) is a Japanese folk singer/songwriter born in Urayasu, Chiba, Japan and raised in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. Taking inspiration from Disney and Studio Ghibli music, most of her music is primarily performed using a classical guitar. She also takes a lot of inspiration from her dreams in order to create a story. Aoba began composing at the age of 17, and was mentored by Japanese singer/songwriter Anmi Yamada. She then released her debut album at age 19. In addition to the classical guitar, she also plays the piano, clarinet, accordion and flute. To date, Aoba has released seven studio albums and five live albums: 剃刀乙女 ("Kamisori Otome"), 2010; かいぞくばん ("Kaizokuban"), 2011; 檻髪 ("Origami"), 2011; うたびこ ("Utabiko"), 2012; 0, 2013; 0%, 2014 マホロボシヤ ("Mahoroboshiya"), 2016; Pneuma, 2017 qp, 2018; "Gift" at Sogetsu Hall, 2020.
