Jon Sterckx

Jon Sterckx is a versatile & innovative percussionist with over 25 years experience of working with world percussion. Equally at home playing traditional world music forms and more contemporary 'fusion' music, his charismatic stage presence, virtuosic playing and rhythmic dexterity has enthralled and delighted audiences across the UK at venues ranging from concert halls to festivals, Mela's, cultural events, conferences and private functions. In Drumscapes, his solo live sampling performances, Jon skilfully brings percussion from across the globe together with 21st century technology in a unique blend of rhythmic soundscapes, bouncy world rhythms & high energy drumming. As well as performing at venues, festivals, melas and cultural events across the UK, Jon's Drumscapes performances have been profiled and featured by major music software company Ableton and have also been included in the global conference foundation, TED, with a performance at TEDxWarwick in 2012. Jon's performance at TEDxWarwick was selected for their Global Music Project - "In the spirit of Ideas worth spreading, the TEDx Global Music Project will compile and share the best musical performances from the over 5000 TEDx events around the world."
