José Luis Encinas

José Luis Encinas is a master lyricist on guitar. He can eloquently transport the listener to romantic castles, Sahara deserts, fields of the countryside; to amazing, new horizons and on exhilarating flights. At the same time, he progressively provides more insight about himself on each, new CD. Some of the feelings evoked by the mood of his songs, are: happiness and hope, love and devotion, sadness and nostalgia. Born on July 22, 1966, in Salamanca, Spain, José Luis Encinas Puente quickly developed a passion for music and began playing guitar at age 13. He idolized the music of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and B.B. King, as well as Mark Knopfler of the band, 'Dire Straits'. Through the years, Encinas performed in several rock bands and also delved into pop music (his band was called Tiempo Muerto, and they held performances in Madrid ), while at the same time he continued to study classical guitar at several, different conservatories. To become a master of classical guitar, he took an unusual route. While pursuing his own music, José Luis Encinas fulfilled his dream by recording a rock music album in 1988 (under the band name, Regnen, meaning 'rain' in German).
