Kâzım Koyuncu

Kâzım Koyuncu (7 December 1971-25 June 2005) was a Turkish musician, singer, and peace activist. Koyuncu was born in Hopa, Artvin Province. His interest in music started with the mandolin that he played in elemantary school. After his arrival in Istanbul for his university education, he spent most of his time on music. He left university for political reasons. At the age of twenty he founded Dinmeyen with Ali Elver in 1992. Although he left the band because of his interest in ethnic Laz music, he never lost his interest in rock music, and he covered traditional songs in Lazuri played on rock instruments. In 1993 he set up Zuğaşi Berepe (Children of the Sea) with Memedali Barış Beşli, Zuğaşi Berepe released two albums: Va Mişkunan (We Don't Know) and Igzas (It's Going).
