La Peste

There are various artists using this moniker. 1) La Peste was a punk rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Members: Ian Stevens, Mark Andreasson, Peter Dayton, Roger Tripp. In their brief but storied career, Boston's La Peste put out only one official record consisting of just two songs. First released in 1978, right between the golden age of East Coast punk and hardcore’s takeover in the early 1980s, La Peste’s "Better Off Dead" seven-inch was informed equally by raw 60's rock and roll and the dust-clearing first wave of punk in 75-76. The record was released to massive acclaim in 1978 from punk's critical vanguard. Robert Christgau and John Peel both approved. It quickly became a sought-after artifact, and can still fetch three figures at auction, long after the band called it quits. The title track found its way onto a Killed By Death compilation, and the band’s remaining unreleased material populated several posthumous compilations (all now out of print). https://lapesteband.bandcamp.com/ 2) Laurent Mialon, also known as La Peste, a pioneer in Flashcore, Speedcore, Noise, and Experimental music. Music ranging from complete junk to the finest frontier pushing stuff. He is known for his boundary-pushing work both as La Peste and as a part of Hangars Liquides, and in the collective Kbal Sound System. Preceded by various EPs, singles and mixes, he released his first album, WTC.XTC, in February 2004. 3) New wave group from the Netherlands active around 1985. Members were George Marvel, Jan O. Van De Bok, Lex Verhey, Peter Paauw. 4) Punk band from France, released one album in 2005. https://www.discogs.com/La-Peste-La-Peste/release/8613584 Read more on Last.fm.
