Les 5-4-3-2-1

Les 5-4-3-2-1 was a shibuya-kei act that took it's name from a Manfred Mann song and it's style from French pop of the '70s and '80s. They debuted in 1993 with two EPs: UN and DEUX, 20 minutes of light, dancey pop with French affectations with the label of Pizzicato Five and the Escalator, Triad. Members Lead guitarist, bassist and songwriter Sally Kubota who formerly played in the short-lived beat combo revival group, Phantom Gift and is one of the major players in a scene that bred Pizzicato Five, Original Love and the Pearl Brothers. Vocalist Hitomi 19, who left after the release of 1995's LA RONDE. Vocalist Arimi Mastuno, formerly a member of the pop group Ribbon replaced Hitomi 19. MON CHERI GO GO and LA RONDE followed after their two debut EPs. PRE-POP was released shortly after the departure of Hitomi 19. They continued to release three more albums with Matsuno and their sound changed into a hard, rock techno style to fit Mastuno's voice ( close in style to Maki Nomiya). They released 12x2 in 1996 and a compilation album very best of les 5-4-3-2-1 for hitomi 19 and finally their last album 1973 in the same year. Read more on Last.fm.
