Maiko Okamoto is a Japanese pop idol singer and actress. Okamoto got her start when she was a child as an actress and mascot for various variety shows like Sunny Side 7 and Morning Salad. In 1984, she signed to Victor Entertainment and released "Mishiranu Kuni no Tripper". It was her 2nd single, "Aitte Ringo Desu ka", that Okamoto became a popular idol. She won the Rookie Of The Year award at various award ceremonies and festivals like the 16th Annual Japan Song Ballad Awards and the 4th Annual Metropolis Song Festival. In 1987, Okamoto made her screen debut with the film "Maiko Monogatari". After the film's release, she retired from world of show business. She is currently a mother with one child.
