Marie Wilson

Marie Wilson is a pop/rock, singer/songwriter from Melbourne, VIC, Australia. The combination of a great attitude and undeniable talent helped launch Aussie Rock Chick Marie Wilson’s first single ‘Next Time’ to great success. ‘Next Time’ was one of Australia’s most played songs on Australian radio in 1998, blitzing the Top 40 charts. It earned Marie two ARIA nominations (Best Australia Debut Talent and Best New Artist) and the accolade of being chosen as Best New Australian Artist on commercial radio at the 1998 Radio Industry Awards. Marie has released 5 albums (Real Life - 1998, Studio Sessions - 2001, Heartbreak - 2005, Studio Sessions 2 - 2012, Live in Melbourne, 2012) and is currently in the final stages of recording her 6th album (Release date, 2013). Reunited with her A-Team, producer Joe Hardy (ZZ Top, Tom Cochrane) and drummer Greg Morrow (Dixie Chicks, Sheryl Crow), this album is sure to be an epic quest from the Aussie rock chick who served her apprenticeship in the pubs and clubs of Australia. She is scheduled to tour extensively through 2013 and 2014. Her goal is to re-connect with loyal fans and gain new fans through her live touring and Gigs4Good project. Wilson’s voice is her strongest instrument; this coupled with her world class songwriting and hard hitting acoustic guitar playing, has fast earned her the reputation as an enduring talent. Wilson throws together a compelling mix of covers and originals resulting in an awesome live performance, every time she takes the stage. These live performances even give punters the opportunity to vote for the songlist via Facebook, in real time. Marie has written with Bryan Adams, Mark Hudson (Aerosmith) and has had one of her songs recorded by Leann Rimes. It was at a prestigious songwriting workshop, organised by music patron Miles Copeland at his 13th Century French Castle where Marie connected with Jim Vallance (Bryan Adams) and Mark Hudson (Aerosmith) to pen her hit single ‘Next Time’, the first of three songs the trio would write for her debut album ‘Real Life’.
