Memorist

Memorist was a six-piece alternative metal band that hailed from South West England. The band consisted of Jon Sinfield on vocals and production, Chris Biddiscombe on guitars, Ash Scott on guitars and production, Crayg on electronics, Josh on bass, and Benji on drums. The concept of Memorist took shape in early 2018 when Chris encountered an old friend of Jon's during his wedding in Las Vegas, who happened to be a photographer for the event. Impressed by Jon's vocal abilities, they began collaborating remotely, writing and demoing tracks. After undergoing several lineup changes, the band released their debut single "Loss" in 2019. Memorist's music was characterized by its powerful emotional journeys, drawing inspiration from Jon's personal experiences and perceived injustices. Influenced by bands like Deftones, Northlane, and film composer Hans Zimmer, their sound incorporated atmospheric textures, driving choruses, and a blend of heavy and melodic elements. The band gained recognition through their signing with Year Of The Rat Records, a UK-based label. They released their debut EP titled "ONI//KIJO" on November 12, 2021. The EP consisted of five tracks that chronicled Jon's emotional journey over a span of 18 months. It explored themes such as toxic relationships, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and its aftermath. In 2022, Memorist went on a hiatus. During this time, vocalist Jon Sinfield faced legal troubles and was jailed for forcefully gripping and shaking a baby while babysitting. As of now, the band had expressed discussions about reuniting, but with a new lineup and an undisclosed new name. Read more on Last.fm.
