Monoculture

(1) Monoculture is a Dallas psych/jazz-fusion four-piece. What once started as aimless jams between founders and longtime friends Olan Mijana and Nick Leibold became something with a little more purpose when the two completed a four-track demo while living 300 miles apart. This demo was the catalyst to the two's completion of Monoculture’s full-length, debut album “Heavier Daze,” an eclectic take on psychedelic rock. Fast forward a few years, and Monoculture have added to their original lineup in the form of Jason Trevino on bass and John Valentine on keys. Besides trekking across the US on several regional tours, Monoculture has held opening slots for psych legends The Brian Jonestown Massacre and other national acts such as Mild High Club, L.A. WITCH, and Ceramic Animal. In the process, they have received nods from nationally-recognized Afropunk and have built a solid home base in their hometown of Dallas, founding the city’s first psychedelic music festival, Paisley Maze, earning the Dallas Observer’s acclaim as the city’s Best Rock Act of 2018 and receiving mentions from other local publications such as D Magazine and Central Track. While their first record left the impression that there was still some soul searching for them to do, their second, titled Blueprint for Dysfunction, sees Monoculture truly finding their form with something more cohesive, conceptual, unique -- and jazzy. (2) Nick Eymann, an electronic musician from Arizona who has been recording under the alias Monoculture for over ten years. (3) Widely unknown band from Adelaide, Australia, and the album "Pre-Culturalisation" which contains one sneak-preview unfinished track is all that belongs to this band on this page. (4) "Belfast," which appears on the Fich-Art Phoney M. comp, was written by the New York project of the same name as the previous two. A remix of ad-ver-sary's "Friends of Father" appears on "A Bright Cut Across Velvet Sky" on Tympanik Audio. Read more on Last.fm.
