Nanae Yoshimura

Nanae Yoshimura (吉村七重) is a famous Japanese koto (Japanese harp) player. From her childhood Nanae Yoshimura was tought by her teachers Yoshimura Soho (Nanae`s mother), Nasaka Soju and Nosaka Keiko. Nanae Yoshimura got her licence to be a teacher when she was 16 years old, when she was studying at Ikuta school. In 1971 she tried playing nijugen (20 string koto), searching for new ways to express her playing. Yoshimura worked with famous directors, such as Yuzo Toyama, Wakasugi Hiroshi and played in many nijugen concerts, trying to make new compositions more popular. She played in many foreign countries, such as France, Vienna, London, New York, participated in music festivals, played with Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra. In 1988 Nanae Yoshimura started playing recitals. They were very successful and Nanae Yoshimura won several prizes, such as Idemitsu music prize and others. Read more on Last.fm.
