Nosliw

Nosliw (born Eric Wilson in Bonn in 1975) is a German reggae singer. Nosliw began his working life as a sanitation engineer, later studying taking another qualification. The name Nosliw is of course taken from reversing his surname "Wilson", and his logo is based on reversing that of the sporting-goods company Wilson. Nosliw began his career in 1991 performing hip-hop in English, before switching to his native tongue in 1995. He founded the band D.U.G. (Die Unendlichen Gedichte) during this period of his career. Since the end of the 1990s, he has - along with Nattyflo - moved increasingly towards a reggae/dancehall sound in his music. On his debut album "Mittendrin", a soul and blues influence was pronounced and on this album he sang in German about political and social issues. Nosliw is influenced and inspired by performers such as Gentleman, Rio Reiser, Capleton, Prince, Busta Rhymes and Tracy Chapman. As a reggae performer, he also cites Peter Tosh and Bob Marley as important influences and people to whom he has listened since he was young. At the outset of his career, he made appearances on a number of compilation albums with various artists. In recent years, however, he has toured with many of the leading lights of the German reggae scene, such as the aforementioned Gentleman and also Seeed. He is thus able to become more famous and have his name associated with these performers. His most famous songs are "Nur dabei" on the Doctor's Darling Riddim and "Wie weit" ("How Far") on the Cystal Woman Riddim. His albums are released by Rootdown Records. In 2004, Nosliw produced a duet with Max Herre (ex-Freundeskreis) called "Königin" ("Queen") for his album "Mittendrin". Read more on Last.fm.
