Prāta Vētra

Prāta Vētra ("Brainstorm" in Latvian) is currently the most successful Latvian alternative rock / pop-rock band. The band was formed in 1989 in Jelgava, Latvia and it consists of Renārs Kaupers (vocals), Jānis Jubalts (guitar), Māris Mihelsons (keyboard), and Kaspars Roga (drums). The fifth member, Gundars Mauševics or Mumiņš (bass), died in a car accident on May 24, 2004. Mumiņš’ duties during the next concerts and recordings was taken up by Ingars Viļums. In 2010, he officially became a part of the band. Prāta Vētra was the first Latvian contestant to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest, coming 3rd place overall in 2000 ESC held in Sweden, with the song My Star.
