There is more than one artist on last.fm named Rasmus Rasmussen 1. Danish artist and half of the duo Onky. Rasmus writes songs and records little projects on the side, and though he's been making music since the mid 90s, songs were rarely shared before 2005, after which several songs have been released. This artist is not the same Rasmus Rasmussen, who is behind some of the albums (such as "Edelweiss") listed below. Rasmus Rasmussen (born the 14th of Juli 1980, dead 10th of October 2012) was a Faroese musician, guitar player, singer and songwriter from Tórshavn, The Faroe Islands. Rasmus was a very active musician. He made it for the first time to the finals in the Faroese music competition Prix Føroyar in 1999 with the band Diatribes. Later he played lead guitar in the band Makrel where he filled the role as one of the main songwriters. Makrel made it to the finals in the Icelandic music competition Músiktilraunir in 2002 as well as to the finals in Prix Føroyar in 2003. In 2005 Makrel performed at the Atlantic Music Event, where Rasmus won the honer of being "the guitar player of the year". Rasmus began his solo carer in 2002 with his album "Implosive", but put it on hold while playing with the band Makrel. When Makrel split up in 2007 he resumed his solo carer. Náttúran sigrar (Myrkar Records, 2012) Rasmus also performed on all releases from the bands Makrel, Hatursvart and Mjørkaborg as well as on numerous compilation albums. In 2010 Rasmus created his own record label called Myrkar Records. The reason was, that he didn't feel he got enough out of staying at TUTL Records. The record label has released albums from several different artists. Rasmus was openly gay and was in 2006 exposed to a hate crime. The incident attracted a lot of media attention and lead to the term "sexual orientation" being incorporated into the part of the law that protects minorities. Rasmus never fully recovered from the incident and struggled in the following years with severe mental illness.
