Rykka

Rykka’s new single, “Movies,” follows up a collaboration with Zomboy and Vancouver based songwriter Mike James, “Delirium,” that has risen on the internet with over a million listens. Not to mention a hefty Peak Performance Project win in late 2013, leaving Rykka with a $102,500 pay cheque. These successes drove Rykka to write and record feverishly, and with the new single we have a glimpse of her new album. The single tells of two rebels and their love affair as a brief escape from the social poverty of life. Together, the two protagonists lose themselves in the reality they create together, and fight for their illusion until the end. The daunting single was written in collaboration in Vancouver, and recorded by producer Warne Livesey at the, “Command Centre,” in Toronto. Spotlighting Rykka’s vocals on a bed of synth and drums. Watch for Rykka in concert coming up soon, she’s an experienced, ruthless performer - with highlight shows at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Squamish Valley Music Festival, and Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, Germany. Her discography includes her "Blackie Remixes - EP" (2014), "Kodiak" (2012) - "Tide You Over - EP" (2011), Straight Line (2010) and Stars & Satellites (2008) as Christina Maria. Rykka will be representing Switzerland at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, Sweden with the song "The Last of Our Kind". She is the third Canadian-born artist to represent the Swiss in the long-running competition, following in the footsteps of Celine Dion (winner in 1988) and Annie Cotton (third place in 1993).
