Semiha Yanki

Semiha Yankı (born in 1957 in Istanbul, Turkey) is a Turkish singer and the representative of Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest of 1975 in Stockholm. She is the first representative of Turkey in that competition. The name of the song was 'Seninle bir Dakika' (English: One minute with you). In 1976 at the international Golden Orfe song competition she won first place and a gold medal for the best foreign song sung by a foreign singer - a first for Turkey. In that year she also came out with the songs "Mutlu olmak istiyorsan" and "Kara sevda", which were not only very popular, but also became the theme music for various series and have been re-released by other artists in recent years. Semiha Yankı has recorded close to 25 albums. Her first record, a 45' which came out in 1974, was "Benim dünyam" with words and music by Orhan Gencebay. " Adını Yollara Yazdım" was among the best selling albums of its time selling 1.5 million copies. Semiha Yankı continues to perform on stage and her last album was released in 2004.
