Stephanie Yanez

Stephanie Yanez is an American singer-songwriter from Costa Mesa, California. She made her debut on Geneon's Anime Karaoke Collection with three of those songs recorded with overseas Japan-based record label I'VE at Paramount Studios. This CD also includes the song that she won at Anime Expo’s AX Idol 2004 “Ningyo Hime” from the top anime series Chobits. She has cited that is greatly influenced by 椎名林檎 as well as OLIVIA, Anna Tsuchiya, Björk, Kaela Kimura, Lauryn Hill, Sting, YUKI and Yaida Hitomi. Since her debut at ANIME EXPO 2005, she has been seen across the country, performing at many different Japanese Events, Anime Conventions, and Music Venues. She even went to Japan to have a live performance in Harajuku. And has also been one of the first Americans to perform on an Akihabaran stage, the Dear Stage. She has opened up for overseas Japanese artists Yousei Teikoku and shared the same stage with KOTOKO. And has now opened up for Major Record Label Artist Nikka Costa at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano. As of now Stephanie has released her first ever solo double EP titled SIDES, which has 10 brand new songs inspired by anime, Japan, love, and life. The official CD SIDES showcases two different styles of music that has made Stephanie who she is today. Stephanie feels that everyone has two different sides, sometimes three or four. Example: the mother, the woman, the wife, the teacher, etc. Each one of us has many different roles that we have to live up to. And some people may never see a certain side that you may have. As Stephanie has been traveling more and more to different anime conventions a very happy bubbly pop side was shown through her music and personality. Because music is her true happiness which brings out her very happy, goofy, outgoing side. But she also wanted to convey her other side which is very complex and serious, and felt rock music was the sound to showcase that. The first SIDE has a J-pop electronica sound with lyrics written in both Japanese and English. The second SIDE has a more pop rock sound with lyrics also written in Japanese and English. The official CD "SIDES" is available now on stephanieyanez.com, iTunes, and amazon.com Also recently Stephanie was involved with Anime Selects On Comcast On Demand as a Tokyo Reporter! She worked in Japan for a week being filmed doing various assignments at various places. For example: She was dressed up as a geisha in Asakusa, took a ninja class, went in a Obake Yashiki (Haunted House) in Namja Town, and interviewed the Burlesque troupe the Murasaki Babydoll. That was just a few things that she did while she was in Tokyo. Stephanie has worked with the popular anime/Japanese companies on various projects: BROCCOLI USA, GENEON USA, LOW TRANCE ASSEMBLY (I'VE), VICTOR ENTERTAINMENT, ANIME SELECTS (COMCAST), CARTOONMOGUL.COM/ANIMEMOGUL.COM, AKIBANANA.COM, KAWAII POP RECORDS, etc. Ms, Yanez has also worked with many ANIME/JAPANESE ARTISTS on various projects: KOTOKO, Yousei Teikoku, Full Metal Ninja of Random Ninjas on the collaboration SLY, DJ Jinnai, The Shogunate, Sailor Jamboree, Maja, Anime Myu, Random Ninjas, Kristine Sa, etc. Stephanie is involved with many projects within the Anime and Japanese scene. She is doing this all WITHOUT a label or company behind her. She is always looking forward to all the different opportunities that the future holds for her. And loves to be a part of many aspects of the Anime/Japanese scene. With songs written in both English and Japanese her unique voice has steadily gained fans of anime and music alike.
