TELL YOUR FRIENDS, AND LEAVE A SHOUT OUT! =) >> www.theERAera.com << >> www.youtube.com/theeraerayt << THE ERAERA is a new revolutionary Pop, Dance, Jazz and Hip-Hop group, comprised of the phenomenal production and songwriting duo, Raw Talent – Emmanuel “leunammE” Griggs and Roderick “Genius” Marshall - and myself, singer/songwriter Avantika Sharma. Our objective is to provide the world with a consistent source of melodious, fulfilling and addicting songs. HOW IT ALL STARTED: In 2008, during the last year of my college career, I realized that my true calling in life was actually one of my greatest passions: singing. So, after completing my Bachelor's in Mathematics, I was ready to focus on making my dream come true. I met Raw Talent during that summer, while we were all living in Detroit, Michigan, and about three months before they had planned to move to Atlanta, Georgia in order to take their music careers to the next level. I was humbled from the very first beat I heard, and was overwhelmingly grateful when I realized they were going to work with me, since I was an amateur by comparison. I quickly learned that they were more than just extremely talented producers, they were also genuine, down-to-earth young men that motivated and encouraged me to grow beyond my own limits and try songwriting, something I had deemed impossible for myself. Since then, not only have I watched them perfect their craft with every new beat, I have also grown with them as an artist and as a songwriter. Although, creatively the three of us were blossoming, we were also seeing firsthand that our goals may be harder to achieve than we had anticipated due to the irregularity of the music industry. After almost a year and a half of analyzing the successes of our icons, the trends in music tastes, and what makes timeless music timeless, we were confident that we knew what it took to create a widely successful musical artist. However, frustrated by the disappointment of not being able to find any suitable artists to develop into our vision, in December of 2009, the three of us decided that we would take our musical destiny into our own hands and form a group that will epitomize everything we had learned about what it takes to be a timeless musician. Equipped with a very modest budget, immense talent, and increasingly motivated by our confidence that our music will mark our place in history, we set out to create the perfect compilation of original songs that would best represent the versatility of our creativity and personalities. OUR CREATIVE STYLE: Before we even started writing or producing any of our music, we had basic concepts of what we wanted to do in mind: we wanted to make timeless songs that were significantly more creative than the music on the radio, but still music that could be accepted in the current mainstream music world. In other words, we wanted to stand out in a timeless kind of way. For this reason, our music is not only influenced by songs and musicians that we have the utmost admiration for, but also musicians that we know have been successful throughout history on a global scale. This selective group includes Michael Jackson, OutKast, The Black Eyed Peas, The Fugees/Lauryn Hill, The Beatles, Enigma, Prince, and Timbaland. We also knew that if this was the category of artists we wanted to belong to, then we had to live and breathe that image/persona. Attempting to stand out with limited means forces creativity and innovation, and we're very proud to say that we feel we delivered successfully - most of our outfits and props are all designed and created by us. WHAT MUSIC IS TO US: From the very beginning, Emmanuel, Roderick and I had very similar ideas about what music is to us. Not only is it an unfading passion that we take very seriously, it is also our blessing, that will help us to secure the well-beings of our families and give back to whomever and however far we can reach. We also see music as an opportunity to convey a message that could potentially influence people. For this reason, the current shallow state of mainstream music had been very disheartening to us. We agreed that our music would have more substance than just narcissistic songs about money, cars, fame, etc. all revolving around self.
