The Mayan Factor

THE MAYAN FACTOR - Baltimore, Maryland Progressive Rock/Alternative Rock Facebook, ReverbNation One word to describe The Mayan Factor is haunting. A listen to any song and you will never forget it. To hear either their melodies or Ray's lyrics is to be renewed. Together they blend into an irresistible force of inspirational creativity. Bridging the abyss of unreal to real, the spiritually dead to the vital, these guys are genuine, their warmth contrasting with the vapid corporate chill of modern culture. Living samplers, each man engulfs a smorgasbord of musical styles but they never tack anything on because they can do it. Their music wells from the wellspring of their souls. The old medicine is dead and with it spring. The last tricks have been tried, the last tapestry of their lies woven. The system is corrupt. The system is bankrupt. We await the wall to fall. Turn your ears to the new dispensation. Turn your hearts from the grave.Tune your hearts to the heart of The Mayan Factor... The Mayan Factor have an ethnic sound, using atmospheric percussion (kongas and drums), acoustic guitars, various keyboard samples and tribal bass to an melodic, intense effect. The Mayan Factor could equally be called progressive rock as they could be lumped into the space rock category, one thing setting them apart from most artists in these genres is that the vocalist raps on occasion. Don't let this deter you, because it's an altogether interesting and one of a kind experience. Formed in 2002, they have released two full-length albums, "In Lake 'ch" (2003) and "44" (2005). With the return of Dan Angermaier on drums, and Johnny Burke replacing Brian Scott on guitar, The Mayan Factor was moving forward with a 3rd album that they hoped to release in 2011. However, the singer Ray Schuler died on February 8th 2011 due to a heroin overdose, which put the band on indefinite hiatus. NOW, the 3rd album by The Mayan Factor is available. The album is called Yesterday's Son. Originally these 7 songs started off as demo's, but after Ray's passing, the band went back in and re-recorded the instrumental tracks behind Ray's vocals and guitar. With the help of Frank Marchand as engineer and producer, they have created an emotional roller coaster that serves as a beautiful final offering to themselves and the fans. Breathe it in - Yesterday's Son - and all of The Mayan Factor's music available at cdbaby, iTunes and many other digital outlets. *********** New Mayan Factor Song Released 1/11/2018 ***************** Song is called Whispers Watch the video https://youtu.be/qMA6hKcPbVs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4yAoGHBhSE https://twitter.com/TheMayanFactor1 https://www.facebook.com/themayanfactor/ Read more on Last.fm.
