WAGAMAMA RAKIA

Wagamama Rakia (Japanese: 我儘ラキア; Stylised: WAGAMAMA RAKIA) is a Japanese idol group hailing from Osaka, Japan. Formed in 2016, Wagamama Rakia is an all-female idol group associated with QOOLONG and signed to WW RECORDS, a label under Japan Music System (JMS). Their musical style combines elements of rock, metal, and rap. The current members are Minami Hoshikuma (星熊 南巫) (original member), Rin Kaine (海羽 凜) (original member), Layna Kawasaki (川﨑 怜奈) (joined in April 2018), and MIRI (joined on July 20, 2019). Former members of the group include Yayoi Ogasawara (小笠原 矢宵) (original member) and Reina Aitani (相谷 麗菜) (in the band between 2017-2018). Wagamama Rakia was formed on September 3, 2016. Yayoi Ogasawara, who had been pursuing solo music activities in Osaka, and Minami Hoshikuma, who had been active as a guitarist and vocalist in a band, were approached by producer Ryo Koyama to create an idol unit. Together with Rin Kaine, introduced by Ogasawara, they formed Wagamama Rakia. The group's concept revolves around "Singing selfishly and being true to oneself." The word Wagamama translates to "Self-indulgence". The term "Rakia" itself doesn't mean anything but was chosen as part of the group's name to establish a distinctive, unique and memorable word. Yayoi Ogasawara went on indefinite hiatus on October 9, 2016, and officially withdrew from the group on December 17, 2016 for personal reasons. In 2017, Reina Aitani joined the group on June 21. In 2018, Layna Kawasaki joined on April 6. Minami Hoshikuma temporarily suspended her activities due to anterior cruciate ligament rupture surgery on August 23 but returned to the group on October 29. Reina Aitani graduated in December 2018 to pursue a solo career. In 2019, the group released the album "StartingOver" on July 9, featuring re-recordings of all 20 songs they had released up to that point.
