Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Claire Deschanel (born January 17, 1980 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actress, model and singer-songwriter best known for being half of the indie folk duo She & Him with M. Ward. She formed a jazz cabaret act If All The Stars Were Pretty Babies with fellow actress and friend Samantha Shelton in 2001 and learned how to play various instruments including the piano, guitar and baritone ukelele. Her sister is actress Emily Deschanel from the show Bones. In 2003, she dueted with Will Ferrell in Elf on "Baby It's Cold Outside," which can be found on the original motion picture soundtrack with Leon Redbone taking over Ferrell's part. Zooey can also been seen singing in Winter Passing, Once Upon A Mattress, and Raving (a short film by Julia Stiles). Zooey has also contributed her vocals on two songs to Jason Schwartzman's band, Coconut Records. She produced music with Von Iva for the movie Yes Man where she is Jim Carrey's love interest and plays in the fake band Munchausen By Proxy, which has 4 songs on the Yes Man soundtrack. She most recently sung a cover of Nancy Sinatra's Sugar Town for the independent film (500) Days of Summer, as well as starring as the title character. She & Him also did a cover of The Smiths' Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want for the (500) Days of Summer soundtrack. Read more on Last.fm.
