DREAMCATCHER (드림캐쳐) is a seven-member South Korean girl group formed by Happy Face Entertainment. The group consists of JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Yoohyeon, Dami, Handong and Gahyeon. The group debuted on January 13, 2017. Pre-Debut: MINX (밍스) Dreamcatcher was originally formed under the name Minx, consisting of five members: JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Yoohyeon, and Dami. They released their debut single "우리 집에 왜 왔니 (Why Did You Come to My Home?)" on September 18, 2014. They made a comeback in July 2015, with the extended play Love Shake which was their last release as Minx. In November 2016, Happyface Entertainment announced that Minx was to re-debut under the name Dreamcatcher with the five Minx members and two new members Handong and Gahyeon at the start of 2017. 2017: Debut year The group debuted on January 13 with their first single album Nightmare and title track "Chase Me". On January 19, they made their official debut stage at M! Countdown. The album debuted at #20 on the Gaon Album Chart. Three months later, they made their comeback with their second single album 악몽 · Fall asleep in the mirror along with title track "Good Night". The album peaked at #7 on the Gaon Album Chart, a sharp increase from their previous release. On July 27, Dreamcatcher released their first extended play titled Prequel. The album contains six tracks including title track "날아올라 (Fly high)". The album debuted at #5 on the Billboard World Albums Chart and peaked at #1 on the US iTunes K-Pop Top 100 Chart. On December 8, Happy Face Entertainment announced that in collaboration with MyMusicTaste, Dreamcatcher will be touring seven countries in Europe in February 2018 as part of their "Fly High" World Tour. Subsequently, towards the end of the year, Dreamcatcher received critical acclaim from music critics worldwide for their unique concept and rock/metal music, an act that has yet to be attempted by any other Korean pop girl group. "Chase Me" was ranked #19 on Billboard's Best K-Pop Songs of 2017: Critics' Picks. Subsequently, Dreamcatcher was listed #3 on Billboard's Best New K-Pop Acts in 2017. 2018: InSomnia On January 4, 2018, Happy Face Entertainment revealed that Dreamcatcher will release a new digital single dedicated to fans in celebration of their first year anniversary on January 12. The single "Full Moon" was released along with a music video to finish Dreamcatcher's 'Nightmare' trilogy. The single immediately charted highly on the iTunes Top 100 K-Pop charts in many countries worldwide and ranked #16 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart. In March 2018, the group's fandom name was announced to be 'InSomnia'. Their second EP, Escape the Era was released on May 10. The title track was "You and I". Later that year on September 20, 2018, their third EP Alone in the City was released. 2019: Asia Tour and Full Length Japanese Album The End of Nightmare, Dreamcatcher's fourth EP, was released on February 13, 2019. This EP's title track was "PIRI". From March to May 2019, the group was on an Asian Tour titled Invitation from Nightmare City. On September 11, the group's first Japanese full length album was released, it was titled The Beginning of The End. 2020 On February 11, 2020, the group released their first Korean studio album, Dystopia: The Tree of Language. The title track was "Scream" it also contained another promoted track, "Red Sun". Dreamcatcher released their third Japanese single, "Endless Night" on March 11, 2020. Read more on Last.fm.
