Park Jin Young (박진영), also known as JYP, J.Y. Park or "The Asian Soul", is a pop and R&B singer, lyricist, composer and record producer from Seoul, South Korea. Park debuted in 1992 as part of the group Park Jin Young and the New Generation, but was not successful. After the release of their only album, Park debuted as a solo artist in 1994 with the album Blue City. In 1997, Park founded JYP Entertainment, one of South Korea's paramount record labels, composing and producing several singles and albums for various singers including Rain, g.o.d., Park Ji-yoon, Byul, Wonder Girls, 2AM, 2PM, TWICE, miss A, and JJ Project, among others.
