Far Apart

There is more than one artist under this name: 1. A 90's emo band from Sweden 2. A singer-songwriter from Ireland 1. Far Apart was a 90's indie emo band from Luleå, Sweden. The band was formed in '95 with the name derived from a The Cure song. Far Apart's melodic and emotional music was close to Fugazi, Drive Like Jehu and Jawbox, but with rhythm, blues, and soul. Members: Mats Ömalm (Guitar/Vocals) Kalle Nyman (Vocals/Bass) Stefan Sundström (Guitar) Tomas Nilsén (Drums) (Whom also played in a local emoband named Shinedust, which sounded close to Sunny Day Real Estate and Samiam) Short lived members: Tomas Turunen (Drums) Isse (Bass) Patrik Heikkinpieti (Drums) Their first 7" called Hazel was released in November 1997 on the swedish indie label Carcrash. Hazel was licensed to american indie label Crank! Records (Same label as Mineral, Boys Life and Vitreous Humor). It was released in USA in May 1998. After the release of Hazel in USA, major label offers started rolling into the young quartet´s palms, although the band´s rebellious and anti-corporate frame of mind deleted every possibility of a major label release of any of their material. Still unsigned, this represents the band´s punk rock attitude to the very core. The essence of a truly independent outlook of life, love and music is very much alive in the hearts of the members in Far Apart. After two self-promoted tours in Sweden, Germany and Czech Republic together with their friends in The John Doe Band, a split "7 with the very same band was released on Premonition Records in Sweden and The Smith & Nephew Company in Germany. They were supposed to have released a CD called "The Blood Meridian Record" after the tour, but for some reason they split up at the end of 99. Many unreleased songs from the band along with their released material have been circulating around online. 2. Far Apart is a singer-songwriter from Ireland. Active since 2015, they have released multiple EPs and one album. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
