Jerry Garcia, David Grisman & Tony Rice

The Pizza Tapes was made over a series of two evenings in 1993 featuring completely unrehearsed songs recorded in Grisman's own recording studio. The informal jams were not intended for public consumption, but Garcia's copy of the tape was stolen by a pizza delivery person and was so widely bootlegged Grisman decided to do a properly documented commercial release some 5 years after Garcia's death, hence the title.
